Professional Development for Consultants (PDC) Program

The purpose of the Professional Development for Consultants (PDC) is to develop a pool of consultants who can provide technical assistance and training to non-profit organizations in communities of color. The primary goals of PDC are to:

  • Increase the knowledge of consultants working with non-profit organizations in communities of color; and
  • Build a diverse network of consultants who communicate and collaborate across cultural lines.

The curriculum is designed to increase consultants' knowledge in several core areas. Organized in six full days, the training typically covers topics including Ethics, Team Building, Conflict Resolution, Organizational Development, Program Development and Business Development, among others.

Schedule of Sessions
The PDC program is a series of six, one-day seminars supplemented by four evening workshops.
The Program is open to consultants and community development practitioners with a focus on and a commitment to providing high-quality technical assistance to under-served communities and organizations of color, using a culturally-based approach.

In 2004, the PDC program will not take place in the California/Bay Area, but expand to areas in the southern United States. Stay tuned for updates on Bay Area PDC 2005.
